Daniela Enache, Senior Manager, Lease Portfolio Management, RBC Equipment Finance Group
What brought you to the asset-based finance and leasing industry?
I like numbers and I have an analytical mindset. I thought this is a great industry to be part of and grow with. I wanted to explore asset financing as a lender, as I spent some time in procurement negotiating contracts for required materials. Asset financing allows a business to acquire important assets, replace old equipment, or grow and expand operations without using up cash flow or needing to raise working capital.
What do you wish you had known when you started out in this industry?
It is a field dense with industry specific terminology and acronyms, complex concepts, and as a newcomer I found the initial phase of my career challenging as I had to acclimate to the industry’s vocabulary and demands. Networking and partnerships helped building relationships with clients, suppliers, brokers, manufacturers, and other industry players. Building these relationships allowed me to be more aware of changes, gaps, issues and areas of both success and improvement.
What do you like about working in this industry?
The industry allows for creative structuring of lease agreements to meet client needs, from operating leases to finance leases, providing a flexible solution for various business models. I became passionate about customer relationships drive success and understand that leasing is often about long-term relationships. Focus on service quality, flexibility, and communication to retain customers and gain referrals.
What motivates you?
The success of my team, colleagues and clients and the gratification of overcoming an obstacle are my greatest motivators. The feeling of accomplishment that comes with exceeding challenging goals or being part of someone’s success are the motivators for me.
What is your greatest achievement?
The year I become a leader was the first year of pandemic. Looking back, that first year was challenging for so many reasons. So many new and challenging situations. I am proud to say that the ability to adapt and the focus on helping businesses overcome barriers or operational challenges by providing leasing solutions was and still is very fulfilling. To continue to compete effectively we had to tailor offerings to unique client needs while working with our partners to execute and have transformational impact on businesses, enabling them to innovate and succeed, which is highly rewarding to help facilitate.
What do you feel you still want to keep working on?
I truly believe we are the sum of our experiences, and this makes me an avid learner. I like to learn new things. I look forward to continuing to grow in this industry.
